Decker Girls 2nd Annual Girls Trip - Scottsdale!!!

Ahhhhh.... I just got back from the MOST amazing spa resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. The best part about this trip? Dad paid for it!! NICE!! Well.. the flights and hotel. The drinks and food were on us. Anyhoo... Mom, Ronda, and I flew in Friday and stayed three nights. I think it was Ronda's and my idea to only stay three nights and that is probably my most ridiculous decision to date. Five nights may have been a little better. Okay, maybe six... We stayed at the Firesky Resort & Spa. From the website I knew it was going to be nice but I was no where prepared for JUST HOW AWESOME that place was! I mean, you know it's amazing when they host a free wine hour each evening! The place has two pools and one pool even has it's own beach. Of course it had a pool bar complete with waitresses taking food and drink orders. I am going to blame that perk for my thighs rubbing together WAY too much since I've been home. Ronda and I even had swimming races and treaded water a couple times for 10 minutes a time to try to work some of it off. That only happened AFTER a few pina coladas though so that may have been a problem.

A conference called "Chicks Who Click" happened to be taking place the same time we were there. It was for women photographers and vendors. We met some of the nicest, most fun women and I am even Facebook friends with two of them now. They were a good time!!

Next year we're thinking we'll hit a spa resort in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We could actually drive there so we could make the road trip part of our vacation. I'm still not too sure if that's a good idea or not:-)

Our first night out. The resort had a courtesy Cadillac Escalade that would take you where ever you needed to go. That is definitely my next car! Oh yeah.. here is Mom & Ronda at dinner.

Birthday: Take 2.. or 3...

Having a bit of a crappy "actual" birthday on Wednesday turned out to be JUST fine after having two awesome birthday get-togethers on Thursday and Friday. My dear friend Melissa planned last night's event. Melissa, Ronda, Corrine, Amy, and I went to the Cinebarre Theater (one of those eat and drink while you watch the movie gigs..) and had SO much fun! I couldn't believe how fast 2 pitchers of Sangria can go when there's 4 girls drinking! Melissa is pregnant and due in SIX weeks with baby girl Delaney so she just stuck to good 'ol H2O.

We started off at Melissa's where she had yummy margaritas waiting for us and then we mosied on down to the theater. We saw the movie The Killers. It was actually pretty good. I'm not a fan of Ashton Kutcher (he's just a big dork married to an old lady;-) ) but he was pretty okay to look at! We originally had planned to see Sex and the City 2 but we showed up 20 minutes late for that. No biggie. We still had an awesome time!

Before we left. We sure know how to strike a pose!

All my birthday loot from Melissa!

"Girls Only" Take 2

Last night I went to see the play "Girls Only" with Ronda, Aryn, and Katie. I had seen the play last year with my mother-in-law and it was just as funny this time around! We started out by going to the Corner Office for dinner and drinks.

Katie (fellow b/g twin mom!!) & Aryn

Ronda & I

I wasn't allowed to take any pictures in the theater which is a big bummer because there would have been some good ones! So here we are before the show and after the show. Can you tell we had a good time? And a few more drinks...

This "man" is in the bathroom area and ALL those pictures are people with this "man". We just couldn't resist...

No night out in Denver is ever complete without someone in the car (me!) having the brilliant idea of hitting the Grizzly Rose for a couple more drinks and some dancing!!
We drove around the parking lot and were going to give up when we couldn't find a decent parking spot but we decided to give it one more shot. I about died when Aryn shouted out "THERE'S MARIA!!!" with Maria being her mother-in-law! Lo and behold.. we drive right by the front door and there is Maria in her Ford Explorer in the very first parking spot all by herself! At 11:00 at night! I know this story won't be funny to many but oh man... if you knew Maria you would be falling off of your chair! She's umm.. let's say.. interesting to say the least...

Aryn found a disguise in the backseat of Mom's car (Ronda and I always borrow Mom's car for these types of things.. no shuffling of car seats!). I guess she needed it just in case Maria could see through the jet black tinted windows on a dark night!

And of course we needed a picture of our killer parking space. Thanks Maria!!

And the fun just continued...

I forgot to mention it was Ladies Night! Who knew?! FREE DRINKS!!

Oh do we ever know how to cut a rug!
I really, really wanted to ride the mechanical bull but I was talked out of it due to the fact that I had a dress on. Next time.... next time....

"In" my 30's...

I'm going to be honest. My birthday yesterday just wasn't a great one. I don't know if it's because I'm no longer just 30 and now I am considered "in my 30's" or because it was a Wednesday and there's not much fun to be had on a Wednesday, or because I have yet to get a cake from Ryan on my birthday, or that I'm just in a funk. I think I'll just go with the funk excuse because the cake thing just really doesn't bother me. And look at all the calories he saved me!!

I spent the entire morning cleaning the house from top to bottom which hasn't been done in a LONG time. Why I picked my birthday is beyond me but I do have to say, when it was all done, it was the best present I could have given myself. It's so clean in here! I then proceeded to whine (just a little bit;-) ) to Ryan about how one day it would be really cool if he would surprise me with a vacation for my birthday. It wouldn't even have to be elaborate; I'd take a stay-cation somewhere in the state! I have no idea where I got the bug that birthdays are a HUGE deal and should always be a VERY special event. No offense to my parents (who truly are the best!) but birthdays were never a big thing growing up. No parties or cool themes or anything like that. We definitely always got to pick what dinner we wanted Mom to cook and we always had our own cake so it's not like they were dreadful. I just feel that each birthday is really something to celebrate because many people don't live to see many birthdays and each year that God gives us is a true gift.

Now let me clarify, I don't mean that birthdays should put you in debt or cause you to have to clean a messy house for days after 100 people are invited over, or anything like that. They just need to be made special. I was bound and determined to make mine special! And again, it was a Wednesday so Ryan was up to his ears with work and schoolwork so he really did the best he could. He cleaned the 1/2 bath for me!! Anyhoo... I took the kids to Target for a little shopping and then we ate there as well. It was the first time they ever had a slurpee and they had to share so that was interesting. They did good with the sharing but each one about burst their eyeballs out trying to suck up as much as they could before they had to pass the cup to the other. We then went home and while the kids were napping, I went over to my sister's for a nice margarita. Sidenote: In case you aren't aware, Mike's Hard Lemonade now has a Hard Margarita!! WHOA! They are GOOD!! She also gave me my birthday present and I love it! An awesome lady at church makes these.

I wish the picture did it more justice but it's super cute!

Then I went to pick the kids up and went over to my parents house. Ryan showed up with a card which made me very happy. Well.. in the card was a nice little itinerary to CABO SAN LUCAS BABY!!!! I guess my whining (just a little bit) paid off!! And only 2 reservations! That will definitely be the longest I have been away from the kids but I think I'll conquer it. Hopefully Mom and Dad will be able to conquer it on their end too:-) With all the talk about the danger of Mexico, we will just be happy to come back with our heads still on our necks and our hearts still placed nicely in our chests. I think I will avoid the news until after we go!

Here are some pics from my birthday "eve" dinner. Of course it was at Mexican restaurant! Shocker, right?!

I'm sure this sounded like a big boo-hoo fest but... I'm all about being honest these days so I just had to be honest:-) My birthday on a Wednesday with no cake while being in a funk turned out to be just fabulous!

Hunter & Reagan's very first dental visit

Tuesday I took Hunter and Reagan's for their first dental appointment. As parents, you hear so many conflicting stories of when kids are supposed to go for the first time; 18 months, or 2 years, or 3 years, or when they have 20 teeth.. So I just picked an age somewhere in the middle with Hunter having 20 teeth and Reagan having 19 so far. Hunter wasn't really digging the whole thing and Reagan was all over it. I definitely wasn't expecting that! Hunter did better after he watched Sissy go through it all. We got a good report from the dentist though which was a relief. Another thing as a parent (or maybe just me) is the feeling that nothing you do will ever be good enough and I was thinking that with their teeth brushing as well. But their teeth are great! WOOHOO!!

Playing with toys while we waited AN HOUR AND A HALF for the doctor.

Just for laughs...

What do you do?! What do you do when your son wants to wear your daughter's faily wings? I guess give in? And take a picture of course:-) Oh well.. at least I can say that I will not paint his fingers when I'm painting Reagan's. I think he makes a pretty cute little fairy if I say so myself!

Cool Cuts baby!

Today I took the twins for a haircut at a very cool place called Cool Cuts for Kids. I wish I had known about it earlier! They loved this place and I'm not sure the place could have thought of anything more: Thomas train table to play with, choice of DVD to watch at their very own chair while getting their hair cut, very cool car to sit in, accessories geared towards kids, etc...

Spikes!!!
