New scooters!!

We bought Hunter and Reagan some matching Radio Flyer scooters. They would always try to ride the neighbor kids scooters and you know how little kids are.. they're not the best at sharing. With scooters came the fancy helmets too!

I know it looks like Hunter is annoyed with his helmet but you will see JUST how much he loves his new helmet in the following pics...

Estes Park "Camping"

Last weekend we went up to Estes Park for our first camping trip in the mountains. We finally got a truck that would pull the camper faster than 45 mph on a flat road. It's a great truck but doesn't have the big lift and tires like the old one:-( We stayed at a campground called "Paradise on the River". We won't be able to dry camp until we can afford a couple generators and they're $1000 each! So.. maybe next year... maybe... The one fun thing about campgrounds is you get to meet people. For instance, our neighbors next door were Jon and Jan from Omaha, Nebraska. They have an old fifth wheel camper but they just leave it there all year long and come up a few times during the summer. Then we met Rod (who I think owns the campground). He lives in a HUGE, gorgeous bus that must have cost a small fortune. He and his wife are from Georgia and I loved his stories he would tell with awesome accent. I could have listened to him talk all day. It was a true Georgia accent that's for sure!

It was an event-filled very short weekend but it was such a great time! We took the twins on pony rides on Friday. Reagan got to ride Blizzard and Hunter rode Cookie. Hunter wasn't too keen on the ponyride idea until he watched Reagan ride away. He must have figured if the horse didn't eat her up then he surely was safe!

Saturday morning we went into town to walk around and shop a little bit. Estes Park has the neatest river walk area.

Ryan's good friend Paul met us later on Saturday with his wife Malia and their 18 month old daughter Briana. It was the first time we got to meet Malia and Briana and we had so much fun together! Hunter went gaga for Briana the minute he saw her. Completely smitten:-)

I know we were supposed to be camping and all, but we really wanted to go into town to eat dinner. Our food for camping didn't turn out too great anyways. The steaks we brought weren't so good and even if they were, we would have had to use plastic knives because we forgot steak knives:-) We're still learning...

We headed out Sunday morning. We're actually going back to Estes Park in a couple weeks. It's only about an hour and half away so it's great for short trips.

Another baby? I think NOT!!

We got to babysit our neighbor's baby girl, Sabella, earlier this week. Hunter and Reagan were on cloud nine with her here!! They helped me feed her, read to her, showed her how to play with their toys, showed her how to fight over their toys, and so on. Reagan would just stare at her in awe and Hunter kept saying in the most high-squeely voice "hiiiiiii baby!!!" We only had her for about an hour and that was enough time to reinforce the fact that I really couldn't handle another child. How did I have TWO infants???

**As you will notice I'm sure, Hunter tends to only wear his boxer-brief underroos. Actually, I'm just happy he has clothes on in most of the pictures because I think he may just be an exhibitionist at heart...

My little sword fighter

Hunter and Reagan got to hang out a little bit with a couple of the neighbor boys the other day. They had these Nerf swords and Hunter just couldn't get enough. How is it that little boys know exactly what to do with swords? It's not Ryan and I beat each other with swords or watch sword fighting movies. Hmm.. I guess it's just a boy thing. So it must just be a girl thing when Reagan grabs the American Girl catalog before I can even take a peek at it.

He may sport fairy wings but he can swing a sword like an old pro!!

Wild Animal Sanctuary

Sunday, Ryan had the awesome idea of going over to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Hudson. We have always wanted to go there and we finally made it. It's only about 20 minutes from our house. It's a sanctuary out in the country with acres and acres of rescued wild animals. Mainly they have tigers, lions, and bears (both black AND grizzly!!). All of the animals are rescued from horrible conditions. When you go you get an entire binder filled with information on every single animal and it kills me to think that there are humans out there who would do such things to an animal. Some of the tigers that they were rehabilitating had been kept in such close quarters that their muscles never developed. So if they let them out into a big, open space, the tigers can only go a few feet and they just wear out. So sad:-(

I'd have to say the coolest animal I saw was this HUGE grizzly bear. I can honestly say I've never seen a grizzly (thank goodness!!). I saw plenty of black bears around town when I lived in Aspen and they were so entertaining. I learned very quickly to keep my trash locked up after one stole a bag off my porch and dumped it all over my walkway after eating all the junk. Oh.. and picking up bear poop was always fun;-)

They thought the binoculars were pretty nifty. I wonder if they could even see anything. I even have a hard time using them!

We couldn't leave without buying a huge tiger from the giftshop. It's a non-profit organization so you just can't feel guilty buying huge stuffed animals! The twins just love their new "Tommy the Tiger". Aren't we creative?!?!
